Employment services
Are you ready to explore meaningful employment, volunteer opportunities, or personal growth goals?
A-Way offers a strengths-based employment program for adults with lived experience of mental health or substance use challenges. We offer one-to-one employment coaching and access to A-Way wrap-around supports so that you can build confidence, develop practical skills, and move toward your goals at your pace.

With more than 38 years of experience employing people with lived experience, A-Way understands that employment journeys are not always linear, and that’s ok. We provide a safe and supportive space to explore next steps in a way that is practical, encouraging, and grounded in lived experience.
You will learn to:
- Identify strengths in non-linear work histories
- Navigate job search anxiety
- Reframe resume gaps with confidence
- Build strategies for requesting accommodations
- Develop personalized job maintenance plans
Services include:
- 1:1 coaching to create a personal employment plan
- Résumé support and interview practice
- Regular emails about current job openings
- Job retention coaching
- Short term work placements available at A-Way from time to time

Group meetings
- Every Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- A-Way Express Office – 2168 Danforth Avenue, Toronto (Woodbine & Danforth)

Together, A-Way group participants explore practical employment strategies in a supportive, recovery-focused environment that values lived experience, builds resilience, and celebrates every step forward.
